SNAG is a tool, like a browser or a file manager. What you point it at, and whether you are allowed to, is your decision and your responsibility. If you do not accept that, do not install it.
No warranty
SNAG is free software released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 and is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Sections 15 and 16 of the GPLv3 set this out in the licence's own words and they apply in full. You use it at your own risk.
What SNAG is, and is not
SNAG does not host, store, index, stream or distribute any video. It holds no library and no catalogue. It takes a link you supply and fetches the file from that site, on your device, in much the same way your browser requests a page. Nothing passes through any server of mine, because there isn't one.
You are responsible for what you download
Before you use SNAG on anything, that is on you to get right:
- Copying material you do not own and have no permission to copy may be unlawful where you live. Copyright law differs from country to country and private-copying exceptions are narrower than most people assume.
- Many sites prohibit downloading in their terms of service. Using SNAG on them may breach your agreement with that site. That is a matter between you and them.
- Re-uploading, sharing publicly or selling what you download is a separate and considerably more serious matter than keeping a copy for yourself.
You agree to use SNAG only for material you are legally entitled to copy: your own uploads, public-domain and openly-licensed works, and anything whose rights holder permits it.
No responsibility for misuse
I cannot see what anyone downloads and have no technical means to find out: there is no server, no account and nothing that reports back. I accept no responsibility or liability for how you use SNAG, including any misuse of it, and for any loss, claim, penalty or other consequence arising from that use. To the fullest extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any damages of any kind connected to the app, the website, or anything downloaded with either.
No affiliation
SNAG is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to YouTube, Google, TikTok, X or any other site it can download from. All trademarks belong to their owners, and are used here only to describe what the app can do. It is likewise not affiliated with the yt-dlp or FFmpeg projects beyond including their software under their licences.
Availability
There is no promise that SNAG keeps working. Sites change how they deliver video all the time, and when one breaks it gets fixed in a later release, if and when I get to it. There is no support obligation, no service level and no guarantee that any particular site will ever work.
Where to get it
Install SNAG only from this site or from the project's GitHub releases page. The checksums let you confirm the file you downloaded is the one I built. I am not responsible for copies obtained anywhere else; they may have been altered, and a modified APK can do anything at all.
Ads
The app displays advertising, which is what pays for the work. What that involves is set out on the Privacy page.
The licence wins
Where anything on this page conflicts with the GNU General Public License v3.0, the licence governs. Nothing here removes or limits the rights the GPL grants you, including the right to use, study, modify and redistribute the source.
